Last month, while I was filming a commercial for Ladue's Comic Book Club, Mr. La Barge, the head of the Elements club came up and asked me why I wasn't doing an Elements commercial. Although he was teasing, I realized that it might be a good idea to take him up on his offer when I was assigned another commercial project for November. After getting the go-ahead from Mr. La Barge, I filmed the activities of the Elements club members and a scene that I had scripted. Although the video only features two characters in a small space, I felt like I got to experiment a bit with my storytelling skills. Although I didn't do anything radically different from previous projects, there were certain shots like the upward shot from within the trash bin that I felt great about getting. (We actually had to do multiple takes of that shot because the camera would keep falling over when the lid was opened. This also marks the first time I've used photoshop for a video, as I used the software to create the slides listing "non-recyclables" and "recyclables." A huge thanks to David and Kenji who took time out of their very busy high school schedules to act for my video.
