For this semester's final, we were tasked with doing a package for HEC-TV involving the themes of eyes and dogs. Mr. Tim Gore and Ms. Jacqui Poor who are producers for HEC-TV actually took the time to come into our class and explain the projects to us; which was really cool! The package I've been tasked with making is a 70 to 90 second informational video on how 3D movies work. Due to finals and winter break, we have less time to work on these projects in class, so the completed project isn't due until after we return. That being said, we still have a deadline for turning in our footage, which is tomorrow. (Yikes! Fortunately I finished shooting tonight) I'm looking forward to editing this project as I will have to experiment a bit with Final Cut Pro X in order to create fake "3D" effects. (Really I will just be layering two of the same images on top of each other, slightly apart.)
A few days ago, (with finals my sleep schedule has been totally messed up, so I can't remember exactly when) we studio taped next month's Ladue View. But with a twist! In the past, we've always filmed the two anchors repeating their lines over and over again until they got them right. But recently, some new high-tech equipment was installed in the VTC that allows us to film continuously, transitioning from anchors, to package, and back to anchor. I was a bit unsure about trying this studio taping process for the first time, but ultimately it was pretty cool. We were able to film two back to back takes with almost no problems! The only downside was that I was originally supposed to be the graphic's manager, meaning I would hit a button to make the anchor's names appear before them. Unfortunately, there were some hiccups with the graphic's machine so instead I had to take the laborious job of pressing the start/stop recording button.
In all seriousness the new taping process is much more efficient and definitely feels more streamlined then the old process. I'll be looking forward to taping more Ladue View's that way in the future.
